Ok so last night I watched the sequel to Killer Hair, Hostile Makeover on the Lifetime Movie Network. I have to say that it was not as good as Killer Hair and I was kind of glad it was over so that I could go to sleep. I enjoyed it, but it did not keep me as entertained as the first one, although like Killer Hair there were some parts in which I laughed out loud due to witty statements made by the characters.
The thing that really bothered me about Hostile Makeover is that it moved very slowly. It took a while for the murder to occur and then even longer for Lacey to start investigating it. The movie seemed to focus more on: the relationship between Lacey, Vic and PoodleWoman; Stella's attempt at a makeover; and the relationship between Brooke and Damon. Unfortunately, most of these plot points seemed very unneccessary in my eyes.
You are introduced to Lacey's mother and sister Chareese in this movie, and I have to say that they drove me insane. I really wish that they had stayed in Colorado with PoodleWoman. Many other characters seemed to be unnessecary; Tony, Mac, Brooke. And they really need to explain the DeadFed thing a little better.
Once again, yours truly guessed the murderer correctly about halfway through the movie (it took me longer this time than in Killer Hair) but it definately kept me guessing as the perpertrator seemed to be innocent most of the movie. Maybe I should think about a career as a detective. I'd be better than any of the police officers in the movie.
There was a serious plot twist that caught me way off guard, which is a good thing in a movie. I was not expecting it but I thought that it was a good twist- it was unexpected, but it still makes sense with what the writers give you.
To me it did not seem like Lacey was even investigating the murder, and then all of a sudden she had solved it. I feel like the writers could/should have incorporated more mystery solving in the movie than they did.
Overall I would give this movie a 3 out of 5 stars, for good acting, ok characters, good storyline, slow pace.
This movie is not online as of when this was posted, but you should be able to see it on the Lifetime Movie Network, or on www.watch-movies-links.net when it comes online.
